Your tank looks great! I have similar rock work (two arches) in a 50g, so your setup looks familiar to me.

Do you plan to upgrade for the clown tang at some point? I’m not the tang police — I keep a Tomini tang in my 50g — but just wondering what your thoughts are. Beautiful fish.

Appreciate it. I love the arches look too, but have one issue that I didn’t think of: open line of sight. If I could go back I’d add a few more hiding spots & breaks in the structure. Still love the way it looks.

I do plan to upgrade for the clown tang in the next 1-2 years. Totally fair question.

Those arches are sick! Great stocking list too! Had very similar corals when I had my 75 running
Appreciate it! I have done a lot of thinking to land on this stock list… & also have had plenty of trial & error with how I should acclimate my coral. Think I’m finally getting to a good spot (which means something will inevitably go wrong soon lol).

Marine Velvet - Would Appreciate Any Advice

Not the update I want to give, but unfortunately my tank has been plagued with velvet in the last 24 hours. I lost the clown tang & firefish. Working to save my 4 OGs (2 Mocha Clowns, Tomini Tang, & Melanurus). Working to setup my quarantine tank to get them out of the display & start the fallow clock. Don’t have any copper on hand, only hydroplex. Going to do that or freshwater dip before putting the 4 in QT. Hoping to get copper tomorrow but I know I might be fighting a losing battle. This sucks, but it is a lesson on never rushing a QT that I’ve accepted. Fallow period will give me a chance to get my display tank where I want it.

ANY advice on how I should handle my four living fish, my fallow period, & not having copper is very welcome.

Also, what should I do with media on my quarantine tank… I guess I just need to add what I have in my display’s sump…?

Appreciate any help.

Took 3 hours but I was able to rescue my remaining fish from the display, freshwater dip them, & then acclimate them to the QT. I am running the quarantine tank at 71 degrees with two airstones, a small pump, & a HOB filter. I took no media from the display & will be relied on the bacteria I seeded + water changes. I did not add hydroplex as I hope I will have copper tomorrow & did not want to mix. Farrow period in the display is looking like 60 days to Feb 28.

One note: I know a lot of people say ich can easily be misidentified as velvet, however I believe I have a textbook case of velvet. I didn’t know this symptom at the time, but my clown tang was swimming right into my mp40 non stop in the morning. He died that night. I lost 4 fish in 36 hours, all showing heavy breathing. And my clown fish look like they had powdered sugar all over them. Either way, I am trying to make the display parasite free.
