Throwing up?

Is my RBTA throwing up? It's been unhappy since yesterday, puffed up body, short fat tentacles, orange/brown color. Now there's a bright pink glob in the middle. I think it looks like the shrimp it ate yesterday morning, but I have never seen anything like it!
I'm a fairly new reefer and have been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post.

BTA often expel food. Basically don't feed them. Anemones have a slow digestive tract. Food sitting in the gut can cause bacterial infections. In the wild BTA are rarely consuming whole pieces of fish or shrimp. The dominant clown chases off any potential fish.

This is interesting. Can you point to any documentation (anecdotal is fine as well) that discusses the notion that food sitting in the gut causes bacterial infection? I've been trying to understand why anemones become infected and this is the first time I'm hearing of this. I always assumed they just had the ability to expel it instead of holding it to the point where they become infected. I also assumed the infections were a result of something happening to the zoox, not the anemone itself.

I thought this forum was a friendly place to share information. I've done plenty of homework and when I'm done, I come back here and share what I've learned (to the best of my abilities).

I have a feeling that I don't need to provide you with documentation that provides the feeding habits of Entacmaea quadricolor in their natural habitats because you've already done your homework:

So now I'm confused. You did your homework and came here to share it. But for some reason you won't extend that same courtesy to me?

Had you said something along the lines of... "I'm a marine biologist, I know what I'm talking about" I would've respectfully said thanks and trust what you have to say just by the nature if what is it that you do.

That said, I think you crossed the lines of common decency, and I'll assume you had a bad day and I'm going to move on.

Sincerely it's all good. :) I am sorry you feel that way.

My intent was only to share that feeding BTAs pieces of meat is not required and might in fact lead to bacterial growth in the gut and or the Anemone expelling the item to rot in the system.

I am not a Marine Biologist, my degree is in nursing. However I have years of experience with regard to BTA husbandry.

When someone asks a simple question because they are curious and would like to gain more knowledge on a subject that someone clearly has some knowledge on (because they took the time to chime in and share it), “laughing” at their question and saying “do your own homework” makes YOU come across as not only arrogant, but just plain rude.

I am sorry you feel that way. That's never my intent. The question was purposed by an individual with experience in keeping Anemones. My response to the OP's initial inquiry is well understood with regard to feeding BTAs. Sincerely thank you for your feed back. Just another hobbyist trying to help out another hobbyist on social media.

Not getting onto an argument but I never fed my bubble tips anything but light and whatever ever they catch out of the water column when I feed fish.
These hadn't been fed in years and they thrived.

Same. I never target feed mine either. Just whatever they grab out of the water column is what they eat.
