For those of you who buy live black worms. Put them in a shallow Rubbermaid container, about 9 x 13. Do not crowd them. Rinse in RODI water. Then set at room temperature in about 1/2 inch of water. Rinse as needed. I use 4 containers for about 1/2 pound of worms. And feed them sparingly a little white bread. As long as I keep them clean they last for months, or until my fish eat them.

Everything changes much more quickly in a smaller tank than in a larger tank. I first learned reefkeeping with a 5 gallon nano tank -- mistakes become more obvious and are less forgiving, so that your learning curve is steeper. Plus the cost of mistakes is smaller. One learns to pay close attention much quicker with a smaller setup.

For cleaning algae off the glass, use a regular scraper with the plastic blade but fasten a magic eraser to the head with a rubber band.. It must be the ORIGINAL magic eraser (no chemicals) Works great & no scratching.. I slice them into 3 thin sections for economy..

Test parameters often, once per month is not often, daily at least till you get your dosing lined out to meet your reef's consumption, then you can back off some. Laziness in this hobby leads to failure.

Skipped right pass your response. Wonder if you have a reefocto skimmer also? mine clogs like withing 2 months
I have a Nyos 160 but just about all skimmers will benefit from having some hot water (just helps dissolve stuff) sent through the venturi every so often.
