I had my son-in-law help me move the Tideline stand, and tank from my truck into position in our living room.

We purchased 2 boxes of Carib-Sea dry infused rock in Arches. My wife and I placed a towel at the bottom of the tank, played around a bit, and came up with a solution for the rock scape.

We tagged and removed the rock, and towel from the tank.

The aquarium came with 2 Weipro WH-1000 overflow pumps, and associated tubes and clamps. We shoved the supplied return tube into the top of the pump, used the supplied clamps to ensure a tight fit. We dry fitted the connection point from return tube to the directional output. After finding the everything was correct, I applied just a smige of petroleum jelly on the rubber gasket, and tightened for use.

My wife and I filled the tank one third, then two thirds, then to full capacity waiting approximately 1 hour between fillings. Currently the tank is up and running both pumps for a leak test.

That’s a very nice looking aio! Following along.

Overnight Observations:

1. no leaks.. !

2. the overflow pumps that were included (weipro wh-1000) are Loud.. Meaning.. real LOUD.. LOL. Therefore since this is the leak test and all the water will be drained anyway.. i'm going to get 2 "SICCE Syncra Silent 1.5 MF 357 gph Submersible Water Pumps". i see that there on Amazon for just about 70 bucks, so thinking about that pump. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VFP3AC?lv=shuf&channelId=500&plpRedirect=mhFallback&th=1) Unless you have an opinion on something better.

3. end of leak test is tomorrow afternoon. we'll drain the water and get it ready for the sand, rock and seawater next.

Drain Water, ADD Sand, Rock, Water, Media Bucket

Well the leak test completed successfully. i was going to use my hose from outside to drain the water, but when i looked at it... well it's been raining for 3 days and it was NOT coming in my house. Walmart had a 50' hose for 16 bucks that fit the bill perfectly.

we drained the water from the tank.

we purchased 3 bags of Carib-Sea live sand which we poured into the tank and leveled out.

we had a party, so i had labeled each Carib-Sea dry Arch rock and placed them into our spare bedroom. i took the rocks out and rebuilt the aquascape on the coffee table, then placed the 'scape into the tank.

we purchased seawater for our initial setup, and we poured that into the tank after placement of the Arches.

i purchased a media bucket from kreative reefers, but i have version 2 Tideline 62g, which has a slightly smaller opening in the sock holder. the KR media basket is being returned, and i bought a media basket from Tideline.. (and for 30 dollars less!)

i'm still running the original pumps. i've ordered some silicone trivets which i'm going to cut to place into the bottom of the sump for the pump to see if that quites the humm down from the original WH-1000 overflow pumps. if not, i'll get the sccie 1.5 pump.

That's A LOT of boxes of saltwater, maybe look into getting your own RODI filter and making your own, you will save A LOT Of money that way 🙂

2 Juvenile Clown's for Cycling

Yesterday afternoon, my wife and i visited Fishy Business in Columbia and picked up 2 juvenile clowns to start our cycle. We were able to place them into the tank about 6.45p. We fed them this morning about 11.45am and they were both hungry! We're giving them room right now and not really going up to the tank 'too much'... lol.. but we do like viewing them.

:)

totally agree.. and i will, but for the first part i wanted to use boxed. they gave me 2 extra boxes, which was cool.

i definitely don't want to spend too much on the ro/di. any suggestions?

I've been keeping aquaria long enough to remember when using live fish to cycle your tank was common, but now the majority of reefers do not suggest doing this. Did your LFS suggest using live fish? If so, I would be skeptical of advice they give in the future as many fish stores are more interested in selling you fish than seeing you successful with your tank.

Given the size of your tank and tank and given that Clownfish are hardy, you should be fine, but I'd watch your ammonia levels and take action if if hits about 0.50 ppm or higher. A good idea would be to add a bottle of Fritz TurboStart 900 specifically. This product (and only this product) can make a take safe for fish in as little as a couple of days.

I hope this helps!

well.. i forgot to mention, or maybe i did.. i put a bottle of Dr. Tims One in Only on Monday early evening.

hopefully that will help get things moving along. also, i did place 6 crushed pellets into the tank on monday evening.

His product take about 3 weeks to work, but that's a good start. With Clownfish and such a large tank, you'll be fine 🙂

WE'VE BEEN BUSY BEES! LOL

since our last update our tank has cycled..!

Starting thrurday last week our tanks ammonia levels started to rise quite a bit. on saturday we went to our LFS and picked up the 48"AI Coral Grow blade we had ordered and they gave up a mesh bag of bio balls from there sump. we placed the mesh bag in the R middle chamber. on sunday i checked the water and found that the ammonia levels were decreasing and the nitrite levels were rising. On monday we did a 10% water change, and this morning when checking the values, i have ammonia.. zero, nitrite.. zero, and nitrate.. 25ppm.

COMING UP:
we origionally ordered a tunze 9004 dc skimmer and that is coming in on friday to the lfs. we ordered today, an ro/di system, and the 'n-clear ato' system and those will be here in the next 7 days or so. OH.. we also ordered a media canister from aquarium specialty and that will be drop shipped directly from planet aquarium.

saturday we'll be driving to our lfs to pick up the skimmer and at least 2 clean up crew.. for now.. :)

N-Clear ATO, BRS 4 Stage RO/DI system & Rear Sump

5 Days since our last update. Tank is running fabulously! AM-zero, Nitrite-zero, Nitrate- ~zero.

ATO
We've been filling the tank each morning with RO water which we've been purchasing through my LFS. Abet not a lot of money.. just more money going out.

So, looking at ATO's we found the pricing all over the board. from $39 to over $250 for our tank. After completing our research we decided on the 'Nature Dimensions' N-Clear ATO'. We found that this unit has been installed on several systems, with no real problems reported. (lol.. i didn't say none, just not alot of chatter on failing)

We'll use the plastic jugs the original 'Sea Water' came in to store the RO water we'll be making. Installation of the 'N-Clear ATO' was pretty much straight forward, except for the float attachment. i found that installation guide was 'less than'. this said, i did find that the attachment is directly below the 'nut' screw attachment at the top of the sensor.

RO/DI
Being retired requires us to 'complete our due diligence' on pretty much every item we purchase for our hobbie. so.. looking at RO/DI we found the pricing all over the board. from $100 to over $$$ for our tank. We finally decided on THIS BRS UNIT. it's a 4 stage & 75 gpd. AND it was on sale.. so there's that!

This unit will be setup outside utilizing out garden spigot. we literally do not have the space required for this monster unit under our kitchen sink as it's a whole lot larger than i thought from the picture on the BRS website. i'll be setting up the RO/DI system this week and of course we'll provide some pictures of that install.

SUMP
On Friday we received the correct Media Container from Aquarium Specialty. They ordered directly from Planet Aquirums.. and it was a perfect fit.

As mentioned earler i recieved bio balls from my LFS's sump. these were origionally placed into my R-middle sump. i removed them from the middle sump and placed them into the media container, i did buy carbon so i placed a carbon bag over the bio balls then filter fabric over the carbon. i also placed filter fiber into the L-side overflow intake.
20260810_093124.jpg (Tideline Media Chamber) 20260810_093056.jpg (top down image, you can see the filter fabric located in the overflow)

With all three parameters being at zero AM/Nitrate/Nitrite... i've removed the charcoal from the media chamber.
