Tideline 65 lagoon AIO build

Hello all,
After starting in the hobby in the late 90’s I took a leave of absence up until 2 1/2 years ago. Now after thoroughly enjoying my mixed reef Nuvo 20 and finding I love the AIO tanks I have begun a long awaited larger build. My choose was the 62 gallon Tideline lagoon. After a delay in ordering I found a 65 had come out allowing just a bit more width so that worked out. I ordered and received it in early September. So stand built, negative space habitat aquascape completed, sand and water in on 9/10. So began a four month cycle which I chose to do again after excellent success with the Nuvo 20. I thought I would share my tank and experience with it as I went through the process. Hope you enjoy.

First change made was to raise the water level. I found the waterline to be far too low for my liking. I had a custom over flow grate built and superglued it over the built in overflow at a level that raised the waterline.

Thanks so much. Super inexpensive. Recycled lumber structure and 40.00 worth of laminate flooring to wrap the outside.

On ebay Jax.racks is the seller he has an item called design to spec. It’s .99 then he contacts you for measurements and quotes you a price. Turn around was FAST quality is excellent.

Some build wrap up updates need to be posted. So here we go. But first the thread only seems to be allowing me to reply so hopefully after this post I can get to it. Sorry out cold for an unneeded reply.

Major needed change as others have said is the filter socks. They clog in 3 days tops and I hate cleaning filter socks. Another thanks and shout out to #Rhinosreef

Created a space in rear chamber for a refugium. Removed a square of the black vinyl backing and attached grow light. Built an eggcrate chaeto holder. I did this by ordering custom cut black acrylic partitions to block light from entering either side of the new chamber. They were cut to allow plenty of flow. There is now a built in refugium working perfectly. There is a similar party on on the other side but it has grates cut up one side and across the bottom to insure hood flow.

The bubbles in the chamber next to refugium my have caught your eye. This is not my first tank and I know my home is heavy with Co2 greatly effecting my PH. If I do nothing it will be 7.6 and I can hardly keep anything alive. I have resolved this with heavy aeration from outside air. I have a high volume air pump that can run six large air stones running 2 micro bubble flat stones on full power. The pump is sealed into a bucket and the outside air source attaches. PH now 7.9 to 8.2 once my Kalk is back online today I should see 8.1 to 8.3 pretty steady.
Also had to use filter block and make a custom lid to capture spray and silence the hurricane of bubbles.

Changed out the shadow wave return nozzle because one never worked and the other hardly did. That being said I don’t think it’s necessary for them to spin at all and I really like them being flush to the tank so the return doesn’t shadow corals. So I have kept them and they might go back on. For now though I purchased 3/4” threaded bulkheads and a 3/4 to 1/2 loc line adapter. I reused my random flow outlet heads. One note the stock elbow that went into the back of the shadow wave bulkhead DID NOT fit fully in new bulkhead. I had to wrap it several time with plumbers tape and then all was fine.
