Power went out yesterday and I wheeled out the genny and it started on the second pull. 15 minutes later I hear a loud knock and it sputters and dies.
I go out and noticed the familiar odor of burnt wiring, not good.
I purchased this unit about 8 years ago, I always care for the fuel, motor and exercise it when I rotate the seasonal yard tools.
At this point it has let me down, so its time for a new one.
With the hot weather the new normal, I am looking to get a larger unit to power my AC, tank, 2 fridge/freezers, sump pump, and a tv. Ofcourse the wife will want hot water dishwasher the washer and dryer.
Sounds like a whole house unit is needed, but I plan on selling in a couple.
I have a quote coming, but I am still looking at a solid portable unit
10,000 to 12,000 watts, running watts that is not surges watts......
So any suggestions? or RECOMMENDATIONS

I have a Honda i7000... This thing is bulletproof. It is a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Besides, Honda has kits to convert the carb into a propane burner, and they have a device that can detect when you have a power failure and with the electric start option... well, you know the rest....

Just like a Generac for 10% of the cost.

Sorry to hear you lost your old generator..
I have a Honneywell 14K (rebranded Generac) got from Costco for just over $3k about 9 yrs ago now.
A few things to note:
Make sure whatever you get has a 220 transfer switch and not just a 110.
My generator will not power the whole house with the 2 ac's I have so have a junction box loaded up with everything but the ac units.
I had a 250gallon Natural gas tank dropped in the ground and its connected to only the generator. Bit of an over kill for emergency power but I plan on eventually adding gas stove and hot water to the house.

Bit of an expense if your moving but should get it back in resale value.
