Time For A New MacBook Pro?

I've had this one 11 years with no issues but it is really getting slow. Would you replace with a new one or? Thanks

I'm definitely not a computer geek.

My MacBook Pro is 5 years old and runs great. I have a white MacBook from 11 years ago. It was too slow five years ago. It might be time. It’s tough to bite the bullet. They are spendy contraptions.

Back when Mac Book were easily taken apart and modified with bigger hd, rams & graphic cards, it was a blast! But now every component inside the Mac Book is soldered together thus making it impossible to do any modifications and worse still is when it breaks down, one needs to get a new Mac Book altogether which is darn costly. It's not as user friendly & cost effective as when Steve Jobs was around. My honest opinion ... Tim Cooks sucks!:mad:

I am typing on a blue tooth keyboard. Already had the first one replaced - which requires removing 70+ parts and then a whole new case as the the keyboard and the macbook case are one in the same.


They do last forever and built to withstand a lot of abuse. I still have my 2009 macbook pro but it's gathering dust.

If you dont find a macbook you like, it might be worth it to check out the Ipad Pro. That larger size allows for more than basic computing and the only downfall i usually note is the use of music if you still burn off cds from the library

Thanks for that. I actually have a new iPad (not a pro). About time I use it until overpaid taxes come back in February. I don't really burn CD's any longer but have ~700 songs on my iTunes.

Edit: My dear wife keeps telling me to use it and I never do. I'm glad you mentioned it. I keep forgetting I have it. (true)

If you are ok with a 13 inch screen, you might want to consider the MacBook Air with Touch ID. It uses the i5 processor and with an upgrade to 16GB RAM, it would be fast enough for any common computer use. The Pro uses the i5 processor on the 13 inch screen and the i7 for the 15 inch screen. If you are using an 11 year old computer, you probably don't need the best MacBook Pro available and the Air model would work well. None of these computers come with CD drives anymore.

If you do basic task's I would just learn to use the iPad you can do a whole lot with it. As far as 700 tunes in iTunes get iTunes match which you get with a Apple music subscription. An all your tunes will be uploaded to the cloud and you will have every piece of music you could every want. If you want to use a physical keyboard. I got my Father in Law a Qwerkywriter S that he loves as it has Cherry key switches giving him great touch typing.
