Thanks for the feedback everyone I've tried bleach and scrubbing, but haven't soaked it for a few days yet. I'll give that a shot and probably just retire it if it doesn't come clean after that.

True, the brown crud doesn't visibly come off when I mix, but I guess I'm concerned about what might be leeching out at a microscopic/chemical level. Honestly I have no idea what the brown crud is so I figured I'd ask about itIf, after all this, you still can't get it off, why are you concerned about it? Its obviously not soluble.
