Time to get started on our 240gal.

I did the first for sure, I was like hurry! Now i have a float switch and booster pump with auto shut off, so I just get water and walk off. Best money spent ever.

Ok, just a quick update. Have filled up the 55gal with SW on the 21st and just running it for now with HOB , and a powerhead. Have my old base rock in it. Not sure of #, forgot to weigh. Just letting it do it's thing.
We ran into a hickup with the water system. Our pressure is way too slow and not even filling up the 2 brutes has used up out DI resin and up to 1TDS. So turned it off (Do have half a tub for top off on the 55gal. for now. Had to order a thing(LOL) for pressure and some more resin. Should come in on the 26th. Also ordered the glass for the baffles in the sump. Suppose to be ready on the 25th. Looking at my old lights I am going to order some or for the 55 I'm sure. They are T5's but I see some rust.
Hopefully next week we'll be able to fill the 240gal DT. Still researching on the sand bed. Would love a DSB but I am a chicken. May try it out in the 55gal and see how I can manage it. Before I had a 1 1/2" and that was plenty of work. LOL

No rush since we have to wait for things to come in. I also still need to go pick up some new test kits. Mine are way old. LOL

Tony is upstairs now working on adding the pump buster stuff , water saver thing and new di resin so we can start making water again. Got baffles to put in the 75 sump and making an ato for the 240gal. I'm the ato for the 55gal. Lol.
Finally got my test kit so tried it out. Amm .4, nitrites 0 and for some reason nitrates 1? Don't understand why but so glad the cycle has at least started. Yay!

Ok, have saltwater mixing for the 240DT. Sadly don't have a hose to reach from the mixing station to the tank until tomorrow so will start filling then. Weighed what rock we already have and only have about 110lbs so ordered 40lbs from amazon to see what it looks like. Came in this morning. Nice size rocks and they look clean. Not to sure how well they are compared to my old rock which is dry lice rock. It look good and sure it is manmade. Once it has coraline it will look great. Just not sure if it as porous. It is heavier then my old rock. I do also have some lime rock that I will use so, much better then that.
Took readings on the 55gal. Temp 78.1F, Amm O, Nitrites 0, and Nitrates Between 2-5. Surprised there are no Amm. or Nitrites. The piece or tuna is still in there and fuzzy. Going to leave it and check again in a few days. May get Some live rock or Bio-sir to see how that does.

Ok. Trying to figure out why we are burning through this DI resin. Have gone back over the connections and everything looks right. Pics below. Called BRS and they suggested it could be our CO2 in the tap. Well. Shoot. How do I figure that out and if it is it, how do we fix that?
Not sure how fast you are burning through it but it may just be the way it is. I would probably have to change out all three of my DI chambers filling up a 24o gallon tank. I know out UPS guy is hating us about now.. Last couple months been ordering boxes of rocks and sand. Haha. Today the box of sand was destroyed and right up to my front door and had to really push to get my door open. Haha.
the 55gal is in full uglies. Lol but my cuc isn't doing too bad. Need a few more eventually.
the fish are doing great. Starting to get fat. A little competing for their little area but all show so far and no one winning. Lol.
The 240gal is almost through the cycle. A little impatient so we added a bottle of bio spire to help out.
I know out UPS guy is hating us about now.

OK, wow. I haven't posted on here in a bit. Lots of crazy stuff going on around here including a new Granddaughter. YAY! But we are still around and working on this build. Also going through lots of challenges with it and moving slow. For a quick run through. Have gone through long power outages and some diseases since I thought I was special and could just observe instead of doing full QT. LOL Yes I have learned better and luckily did not loose any of our fish. So excited to say my Fallow period with the 240gal is up and fish should be going in soon. Also 2 20galand 2 55gal tanks for QT later we are prepared for a new batch of livestock when these go in. LOL And a big box of meds of course. The fish that will be going in the 240gallon DT are.

1 phantom clown
1 royal gramma
1 redline wrasse
1 rubyheaded wrasse
1 foxface
now have to decide on the next batch I want to QT.
And there are inverts in the 240gal and I have been feeding it this whole time but, will still watch the parameters when this load first goes in. Have bio-spire also on hand.
