Here’s my dilemma:
I have a Tideline 62, with a snowflake eel, white tail Kole tang and a Foxface. Everyone has gone through quarantine. My Foxface and tang spend most of the day hiding or just being super skiddish. I have two ideas: reflections or the eel is being a turd.
I thought that it might be the reflection from lights and windows, so I put a vinyl wrap on the sides of the tank. The fish no longer pace the glass or fight with themselves, but they still act scared. I’m using nicrew 100 gen 2 lights, 12” off the water. I’m only running blues, uv at 45% and whites at 5%. I’m thinking I might lower them to 8” and get shades for them, to try to reduce the shimmer off of the front panel. Would this help?
Next, I’m thinking maybe my eel is being a terrible tank mate. I keep it well fed with shrimp and squid. It almost never comes out unless he’s hungry, about every other day. Maybe he’s a terrorist at night? Im strongly considering rehoming the eel.

Any opinions on what I should try? Thanks in advance.

I dont think its your eel. They are very docile. Yeah they will swim around and explore but that usually doesnt bother fish. They might be having aggression between themselves. Some of my newer fish get scared when they see one of my (now 5) eels but when they get used to them they relax. Also snowflakes prefer inverts.

Also, how long have they been in the tank?
The eel has been in there since July 2025, the fox face in August and the tang I had in qt but he came out last week. The reason I started this tank separate from my main display was for the eel, but to be honest he’s pretty boring as far as movement in the tank and I’ve been trying to add some life. Thanks for your reply
