As the title says .
I have been debating adding more sand .
The current sand bed is only a little from what I took from the old 90 gal
Current tank is a 230 mixed reef ( mostly sps frags )

will adding sand cause issues ( algae bloom , mini cycle , effect the stability and throw parameters out of balance ?

I don’t think you’ll get the same answer twice with this question but I doubt that these issues you’ve raised will be of concern. Adding sand to an established tank will be hard because you’ll get sand everywhere and you’ll most likely have cloudy water a day or a few. Adding new sand may also see the start of a diatom bloom.

Partially what I didn’t want .
Diatoms are a thing of the passed .
But by cleaning sand every water change , I’m losing more and more every time.

add 100% tap rinsed sand, solved. you'll get nothing as an outcome other than deeper sand. if tap is concerning, final rinse in RO>
