Hi all! Looking for some advice on this injury to my toadstool. I first noticed the injury about 3-4 days ago. Not certain how it happened?

Should I let it heal on its own? Any other steps I should take?

Not certain it’s improving yet but I’ll watch closer to confirm. Does not seem to be getting worse.

Water parameters and flow are unchanged.

Tank mates include: 4 blue chromis, leopard wrasse, powder blue tang, gold flake angel, 2 clowns.

The angel is my first suspect but I’ve never seen him nip at the leather or any other corals.

I would leave it be, it is already healing. There is no need to stress it out more by doing something else to it.
I agree. Just leave it be. I had a starfish destroy one of mine. It ate about 1/3 of it and it made a full recovery in about a month.

Glad to hear it. This guy is my pride and joy LOL.

I’d love some more opinions on this. The original area of damage is healing but now he has a much larger area that is slowly getting bigger the last 2-3 weeks.

As you can see his polyps are extended and he seems otherwise happy. But this area just keeps growing.

I did pull a gorilla crab out a few weeks ago. Was that the likely offender? Maybe there’s more?

Flow issues?

Really appreciate any advice. I really don’t want to lose him. Thanks!

Could definitely be the crab!

So I thought it was a gorilla crab, but now that I have him in my sump and can get a clean picture under normal lights I’m fairly certain it’s one of my emerald crabs. What do y'all think?

I’m pretty sure that’s an emerald crab. Which if it is, leaves me back square one with what’s injuring my toadstool? Ugh!

Have you droped any chemicals on it while dosing something. Looks burned or infected or something eating it i guess

He’s living in my sump and has been for a few weeks now.
it still could be a infection..bacteria....i dont know. I know some will dip in iodine for leathers.....Hopefully someone more experienced with leathers splitting will know. I had a huge toad stool about 2 feet across in an older tank and it never split it just kept getting and bigger. I dont even know if they do split...i thought they had to be fragged

Yeah I don’t know for sure either. He has good polyp extension which to me is encouraging. But I don’t know.

I’ve thought of doing a dip but I’m worried that would stress him more. He’s pretty well attached to several large rocks.
