Yeah I don’t know for sure either. He has good polyp extension which to me is encouraging. But I don’t know.

I’ve thought of doing a dip but I’m worried that would stress him more. He’s pretty well attached to several large rocks.
Ya probably just have to wait and see. Mine had a huge foot and was anchored to a giant rock couldnt move it either

Really struggling to figure out this toadstool. Here is a pic from today.

As you can see it is continuing to sort of erode at the edges. That left/front edge in particular. Some opinions are it is still splitting, but I'm really not sure. I still have never seen anything nibbling/eating at it. Appreciate any more tips or thoughts. Thanks!

Should I try to do an iodine dip? I have avoided that because it is so big and attached to multiple rocks. Should I frag from the health section? Thanks!

Have you noticed any small frags? That looks quite large, and small parameter changes can lead to self fragging in big toadstools. The babies often end up in dark areas and atrophy after they drop. Mine does this constantly since reaching a certain size, and it's significantly smaller than its max size because of this

Interesting! I have not noticed small frags but I will start looking closer for them. It was quite large at one point.

Those tears are identical to the type I see on mine when it's self fragging, but also it's what toadstools look like when they're being torn apart bt something

This might also help...

This tank is about 10 months old. I moved a smaller tank into this one. The leather is my only coral I moved from the old tank. I have tried adding zoas and they did not survive.

Current water parameters:

Nitrate 10.6
Phosphate 0.05
pH 8.5
Calcium 371
Alk 9.7
Mag 1115

I have been working to stabilize Alk and Mag, which are about where I want them. Now focusing on Ca.

Maybe it is water chemistry causing my issues?

Thanks all!

After months of continuing to erode my leather is showing some signs of rebounding. You can see some signs of new growth in this picture.

I also think I may have found the cause. I found and removed a very large fire worm a few weeks ago. See below. Is it possible he was doing this damage? After removing him the regrowth started.
