Hey guys, I got a toadstool about a month ago. It was doing great for... I think 2-3 weeks maybe, not sure.

But then it closed. I thought it would open back up but it didnt. It looked like it was shedding so i left it as it is. Then i spoted some algae growing on it and i couldnt blast it off with a turkey baster. It has been closed for a little over a week now.

All the other corals are doing good (except for my goni which is suffucating in gha).

The one time that I had issues like that with a toadstool was right after I had used phosguard (granular aluminum oxide) for the first and only time and it leached a bunch of aluminum into my water. Probably not your issue, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Seeing it right beside a bubble coral makes me think its a positioning issue. Toadstool likes higher light and flow than bubble coral. It is flexible with light, but it needs flow. I can see the detritus building on the toadstool, it needs good water movement.

Have you tried increasing the flow in the direction of the coral?

Hey guys. So thats a cynarina, not a bubble coral, but i think the requirements are the same. I am going to get a new wavemaker today. I will try to move the toadstool to higher light and higher flow. I will also try to ask some opinions from my lfs.

Kinda looks like a Fox coral more than a cyanaria but I don't think that's affecting it.

Take some accurate Alk/Cal/Mag/NO3/PO4/Salinity measurements and post those. I have had a weeping willow toadstool kinda do that same thing and 1-2 weeks later it's back to it's normal self.

Yeah..., i dont have those measurements yet. No3 is 10 and salinity is 1.024-1.025. I will take it as 1.0245. Others i dont have yet but i am planning to buy it soon. My lfs asked me to brush the detritus off and place it in higher flow so thats what i did. Hoping it would open back up soon.
Edit:p04 is 0.3
