Toadstool UPDATE: Not looking good.

It's been 5 days since I bought this toadstool leather coral, and day by day it is looking worse. It's polyps have not opened in days, the coral has been gradually shrinking in size, and now theres is this grayish stuff on it? I'm not sure what is it, but I read from my previous thread how it may simply be because it is a new coral, or it could just be shedding. I attatched a photo of it from today, but I don't know much about the signs of corals, so I want to confirm that everything is okay unless it is an issue that I need to address, and hence I did not mark this as an emergency. Any ideas are appreciated!

PS: The tank did have a nitrate and phosphate deficiency, and I've been working to raise those levels.

Deficiency? What we talking here 0s ?
Is the outer shiny or pale?
Hard to see under blue lighting , you got channels on your lights?
Might be an idea to go into more details aswel like parameters, lighting, flow , other corals are ok etc…

Nitrates and phosphates as of yesterday were 0. I will be testing them again tonight.
The coral appears to be pale, and it currently is the only coral in the tank, however the nitrate and phosphate deficiency was because the tank is heavily loaded with macroalgaes. I hope this helps!

This is a dead man’s finger leather. They’re pretty grumpy when you add them to a tank and they really don’t like low nutrient environments like that. How’s the flow in the tank? They need good flow to shed which they do pretty frequently.

I think the flow is alright, but I cannot really tell. It is strong enough to give macroalgae some gentle movement if you know what I mean.
It's funny you say dead mans finger leather coral, and I completely agree, as it looks nothing like a toadstool leather. Its just that the person who sold me the coral said it was a toadstool leather, and I DO NOT know how to keep a dead mans finger coral alive. :( Thanks for the reply though! I will keep working to increase those nutrient levels, as well as do some research on this coral species...

SDQS - Sudden Drama Queen Syndrome. Completely normal for leathers.

Get the nutrients up, and try blowing on it with a turkey baster. 5 days isn't in the worry range yet.
