Hello,
I just noticed my toadstool is peeling apart. Looks like there are new sprouts below it. Is this a common occurrence, cycle or is this something I should be concerned with?
That reminds me of polyp bailout of LPS corals. It is trying to save itself in my opinion. What are your parameters? You should be able to save the crown, the stalk will continue to grow.
My salinity is .024 nitrate, nitrites, Ph,ammonia are all good. I have been battling high Phosphates .025 but I believe that is due to not having a protein skimmer yet. Calcium is on the lower side 380 but has been for months and my KH is on the lower side 125 again has been for a while.
It has nothing to do with not having a skimmer. Plenty of reef tanks run successfully without a skimmer. The rock on the background looks very white, how old is the tank?
Need more info on your tank, lighting and flow. I notice the stalk is reaching out, what is your lighting like? The stalk should be short and fat if lighting is adequate.
I have 2 of the viparspectra 165w led lights hanging 12” above a 30” tall 110 gallon tank. It is approx 3 months old. I have the whites at 10% and the blues at 100% currently I only run the whites for about 6hrs a day. The blues run for about 3 hrs before and after the white lights run.
