Today was such a good day until....

You know, today had been such a good day until I got an email from **********, an online petition site I get email from occasionally, and made the mistake of opening it only to see this online petition to impose charges on some minors who, now it took me a while to fathom this, ran down a young coyote on there snowmobiles. Then proceeded to taunt and beat the young animal to its death. All the while video taping the whole thing to later post on Facebook.

Now the petition asked that the youths be charged, obviously I signed it, but all the while knowing in reality, charges most likely won't even be laid, and if they are, they might get community service or something completely pathetic. These kids will probably get away scot free with nothing. Sometimes I just can't believe how low most of today's youths have gotten and that there is just no punishment atall for there behavior.

I guess this incident, which I might add happened only a few hours away from where I live, really hit home as the poor creature look strikingly similar to one of our own pups. And I'm just filled with this sudden urge to figure out who did it and go lay some personal justice out on them myself. IDK....

Needed to vent as it's completely ruined my day and I'm just lost in disbelief that this is even something that can happen in this day and age.

Thats a very popular thing where I'm from. People are always running them down on sleds or side x sides. It ticks me off. If for some reason you think you actually need to kill one, use a rifle and just get it over with. I also see zero reason for killing them unless they are attacking other animals. No animal should be tortured, there isn't a single thing you can say that would justify it.

Well I guess I can be greatful it doesn't happen on a regular basis that I know of anyway. But Regardless, I Agree, I have no issues with those that hunt or for sport or food. But this isn't hunting atall, it's... well I don't really know how to describe it.

I don't believe they would not be jailed for this. The FBI has learnt from profiling serial killers that this type of unwarranted & extremely violent behavour towards innocent animals is a prequel to later crimes.

They are juveniles, they won't go to jail for this, adults don't even go to jail for it. And I do agree it's definately a precursor to more violent crimes. But, somewhere here in Canada a guy was just released after beating his girlfriend to death, he served 2 years... so I don't think there will be much recourse for this unfortunately.

Well it politics that determin the level of punishment for such things. The ideology behind the politics is what needs looking at.

Has society become less empathetic to such things??? History is filled with extremely violent attitudes & actions. It can be argued that todays world is far less violent & less acceptable to violence.

I think this a terrible attitude to have; to consider humans as a virus.
Humans are just another animal trying to exist on this planet. We don't all ruin the environment, or torture & murder animals.
Animals alter their environments & can be vicious & cruel to other animals & each other. Its just nature, the way things are.
Humans have altered some natural environments for the better.
Humans are on the most part wonderful to other humans & animals.
Humans write beautiful music, create wonderful art, & are constantly looking for ways to improve everyone lives.
We care for the sick & poor.
