I plopped 3 new corals in my tank on Thursday. They all opened up and displayed nice color. Both My Zoa and Dunkan displayed some weird characteristics. Both acted a bit stressed. The Dunkan recovered but the Zoa started to stretch out with the other heads closing. I did the usual water checks, and finally checked the alkalinity testing 6.9. Maybe those corals were used to a pristine tank. I dosed with Reef Fusion 2 and after an hour the Zoa opened up and looks good. I'll check again in the morning and do a partial water change. Further I knoweth not.

I run my nano at 7 with no issues.
I checked the big 3 and ca was low 360 and mag was 1200. My acans were not full and the same with my zoas.
Funny all acros looked good.
I brought ca to 420 and mag to 1350 and several days later all are nice and full.
It's the only thing I changed so maybe check ca and mag?

Are you sure it was your alkalinity? Natural sea water has dkh of 7.0. Most reefers keep the dKh around 8.
Did you acclimate them properly?

Totally agree with this. Most people who dose stuff like AFR and the others, don't take into account the magnesium. Have low mag has a negative affect to tank inhabitants.

Sorry for going off topic. What testers do you use for testing Mag. I have API reef kit which I know is not great but I am kind of slowing down on spending this month but plan on upgrading at some point.

Make sure your water temp does not vary, it could be shock to the system.

I use Salifert, most of them are notoriously wrong anyway, but it gives a ballpark.

I have a Hanna. I know there is a + - on any hobby instrument but they seem to be very close. 7.5 this morning. I dosed it again. The PH is stable at 8.2 but I guess up and down PO4 levels mess with the alkalinity.
