Got a ton of it and a good amount were weakened/dispersed after a 3 day black out but theyre back again. I do use RODI, TDS meters still say 0ppm. My nitrates are around 20ppm. Phosphates no clue. But i've been told my lighting could be a culprit considering how I used to have Dino's but got rid of them by simply lowering light intensity. Here is my current light schedule:

Current USA IC LED Pro (Dual Strips)

Total Hours: 11 hours

Sunrise (1hr):
  • Blue: 50%
  • White: 20%
  • Red: 45%
  • Green: 10%
Day Light (4hrs):
  • Blue: 30%
  • White: 25%
  • Red: 15%
  • Green: 10%
Sunset (1hr):
  • Blue: 75%
  • White: 15%
  • Red: 10%
  • Green: 0%
Moonlight (5hrs):
  • Blue: 75%
  • White: 0%
  • Red: 0%
  • Green: 0%

Light + nitrate = algae

Light + phosphate = algae

I've had nitrates at 0ppm, not much of a difference

Must be phosphates then.

I do use a Poly filter but I guess it's not enough for the situation I'm in.

As organics rot , they make ammonia and nitrates. Cyano will settle directly on this and feed , thus you may have heard , “it’s being sucked up by algae “

Forgot 3rd equation

Light + overfeeding tank with excessive organics = algae as well
Yup
And over feeding Esp on newer tanks is hard to guage exactly as it’s different in each tank as the bio filter may or may not be fully matured to out compete the cyano.

Cyano appears to be driven more by nitrates than phosphates.
