Hey guys, just a quick question. I have a 40 gallon breeder mixed reef tank & was wondering if there is a preferred or recommended coral for middle to top of the tank. Thanks in advance, just trying to fill out some space.

If this is your first tank, leathers are good for higher to mid, also zoas. Just keep the lights low.
I have some zoa's, a hammer, a frogspawn, a couple Duncan's, a zenia & a gani. I guess mostly what I have is mid to bottom. The tank is somewhat "young" I guess, only being 6 months or so. I was just curious about corals that survive mid to top of tanks.

The frogspawn could do we mid to high. Leathers and zoas are the softies I have high.

It depends on the coral and the light and water flow requirements

It's the nicrew marine reef light up to 36 inches, my anemone & corals are seemingly ok, just wasn't sure about which corals are suitable for for mid to top

Welcome and as above leathers and Duncans are real adaptable -

if you want SPS at some time down the road you should borrow a PAR meter and start to figure out intensity and flow for best performance

but take your time
