Hey, does anyone know if its possible for a torch to spread?
I have a torch and I notice today on a rock near by, a small torch with very small tentacles. It seems to be a baby torch. I never put it there n have had this rock for waay longer than I have the torch. How does this happen? Has it spawned? Can stray shedded tentacles seed new torches?

Without seeing it and understanding that it is on a piece of live rock, my guess is that it is a hitchhiker or pest. You should upload a picture of what you are talking about.

Torches do spawn and will seed but it is rare in a tank. How long have you had the torch in the tank? Stray tentacles will not start new torches.

Other euphyllia do this, hammers will drop a bud.
Had it happen in my tank. Have not seen it with torches.

I have had this torch for like nearly a year. The small thing aint a hitchhiker. I have nuked this rock before going in my tank. I know the little thing on the rock is a torch. My torch is black with green tips. This little thing is tiny black tentacles with tiny green tips. Its pretty obvious what it is. Its not identification Im looking for. More just a how it has happened. If it has spawned it must mean my tank parameters are waay better than I thought.

Polyp bailout, accidently knocking off a polyp, etc. can enable propagation. I've got a torch on rock surface at very top of tank now in very high flow and high light that is doing well ;)
