Torch disintegrated. Should I do water change?

I have noticed my Aussie gold torch started disintegrating two days ago. About a third of the head is gone and it’s worse and worse in every minute. I have just taken it out out of desperate. My other corals are pretty upset and won’t open, especially gonioporas. Should I do a quick water change? I am not sure if they release toxin as they melt.

How big is the tank?

A third of a torch head is not going to cause much problems in a decently sized tank that is well established.

I would be more concerned about what caused the torch to die and that is what is causing the other corals to struggle.

Do a water test and then a water change

I would water change and bring the torch/rest of corals to an LFS or a friends tank!

Then test all water parameters... and I mean EVERYTHING.

Did you notice anything on the torch? Could if have had BJD?

If it did have BJD, that can spread, and might explain other corals being unhappy.
