Welcome! If there is algae present, get it in a tub and keep the rock dark and feed it ammonia. If there is no algae and its clearly aged rock, start testing it for nitrate after adding ammonia.

We have found a great way to neutralize rock is by giving it a good soak in RO water that has been dosed with hydrogen peroxide. Put the rock in there with a pump circulating the water for about a week.

We have used both Fritz Turbo Start and Dr. Tim's One and Only.

Hello! I’m a total noob here. I’ve always wanted to have a reef aquarium and finally figured what the heck, let’s try. I got a used Biocube 32 that I’m going to use as my starter tank. It came with some live rock, but I’m going to cure it to kill anything on it first. I don’t trust it to not be covered with bad stuff that I don’t know how to combat. I’d rather start with a completely clean tank and do the slow cycle to build up the good bacteria. Having said that, what is the most recommended product y’all use for cycling a brand new tank before adding any livestock to it? Any others pointers that anyone can give to someone completely new just starting out is much appreciated too!
