Hi all. One of my trachy’s started to close up earlier today and now half of the flesh is just hanging off. I’ve had it for about six months with no problems.

40 breeder. My parameters are all in good range. Ca and mg are generally higher but have gone down the last month (I haven’t been keeping an eye on those lately).
Po4. .04
No3. 10
Sal 1.025
Ca. 400
Mg. 1320

Some of my other LPS has been shrinking/receding a bit in the last day or so. I also have been having algae lately. Some black and green I believe cyno on rocks. I’m going to buy a replacement UV bulb tomorrow and clean the inside of sterilizer. I’ve had it for probably a year or so and haven’t cleaned it yet.

Wondering if leathers could have anything to do with it? Maybe released toxins? I just unclogged carbon/gfo reactor as I do about every seven days.

Thanks for reading!

The trachy appears dead and likely has been disintegrating for a while and reached a point where the last bit of flesh/muscle holding the mantle gave out, and that whole outer ring section finally started to fall off. Or, you have a fish that’s eating it.

Do you have a pic of this from yesterday or the last few days?

This is not the result of any of the parameters you posted. Something else is going on.

Sorry for lag in replying. My notifications weren’t on
Someone said it could have been one of my clowns rubbing against it, which it would love to do. Other than that I have peppermint shrimp that may have been messing with it. Although there’s another Trachy close by that seems fine. I also had scans that shrink and died before this.
