Halllpppp. I’m panicking. My Trachy is looking bleached and clearly showing skeleton. It hasn’t bubbled up in a few weeks and today i noticed it’s mouth is wide open. Posted parameters.
Nitrites 0 ammonia 0 nitrates 17.3 which is close to where I normally have them (15-18 range) phosphates .03. Salinity is 1.025 Hanna checker and refractometer.

Also had an urchin die on me. But my other looks perfectly fine. coral everything looks great except my Trachy and one mushroom looks like it’s bleaching. Anemones are fine. Fish are fine. Conchs are fine. Hermits are fine. I’m so confused.

Have you examined it for pest underneath? What par and flow? Numbers seem good phosphate slightly low. What is alk, cal and mag?

Do you have a full tank shot? I don’t like having leather corals near anything. It’s probably not the cause but who knows. How long have you had it? I would definitely move it bc it’s very unhappy with something and it may be the spot.

How old is this tank? Are you using a checker for the PO4?

Mine did this when I had nutrient issues and I couldn't get it back..
Hope you're able to find the cause and sort something out to help it! Looked like a nice piece.

There is what appears to be like a tube worm. I can scrape it off. I don’t really see anything else under it. Alk calcium and mag are posted in trident photo. All normal ranges

I just moved it there to try a different spot right before I took the photo. It’s lower light and slightly lower flow there. I’ve had it for about 6 weeks. I have a full tank shot from when I got it but nothing recent. I’ll grab one on lunch today when lights come on.

Seams weird ….
they are generally a very easy coral to keep happy . Unless you add a angelfish ( my mistake )
No angelfish. Someone suggested maybe a fish is picking at it. I do have a foxface. Others said maybe crabs. Going to put it in an acclimation box and see I guess

Watch foxface . Mine will pick at fleshy corals just to be a a hole but not necessarily eating it .
Crabs , can be pests ,
If it’s on the sand , there could be something bothering it in the sand

did anything change such as feeding , nutrients or even parameters ?
Have you changed anything recently ?

Alkalinity was a bit low. My tank was using about 1 dkh per day but I brought it up with sodium bicarbonate over a week and then have kept up with kalkwasser to keep it stable. It was as low as 6 dkh. I was doing about + 1 per day

Can you catch and isolate the fox face a few days? I’ve seen them use wellsos as toys and irritate them. Or if you have another tank try the wellso in there. Another idea is another Reefer or a store holding the coral to see if it pops back to life. All the welso are wild collected so you never know the actual. Health. I’m just spit balling here for ideas. I guess my point is if you can find another tank for it and it comes back you know it’s something in your tank. If it doesn’t come back the coral may have something internally wrong ie disease that was triggered by collection shipping or something stressed it in your tank.

Btw how quickly did it start to degrade? Was it over night or did it progressively get worse?

Any chance it got damaged during transit?
If it got bumped and broke the flesh, sometimes they don't recover.

Sorry missed those numbers at the top. I have 5 trachys. They are prone to bacteria infection also. Perhaps an iodine dip?

Do you have other LPS doing well? Take a water sample to lfs to check. I've found the checker for PO4 was always reading 0.03-0.5 higher than it was.
