My tank is predominately SPS but I recently added a trachyphyllia. I'm looking for some advise as to care - lighting, feeding, flow, etc. It's about 4x4 inches and absolutely screams under actinics. I have it on the sandbed but my concern is that I use LED lights that put out a lot of par so I don't want to bleach it.

All you trachys out there - your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Karen

Usually the coral will let you know. I would put it in a somewhat shaded area and see if it starts to puff up a lot(trying to get more light). If it does expose it to more light, and so on. For feeding maybe give it some mysis every now and then.

I have wellso's and tach's, I have them on my rock work, from 6 to 9in under my lights. I run 4 t5s and 2 vhos. Mine like a gentle to low flow. I feed them 1/4 in pieces of premium raw scallops once a week.

I have a trach and it is directly under my 250w MH bulbs in Lumenbrite reflectors. It is about 24" below the bulb. They have them listed as moderate light/moderate flow on most sites which is how I have mine. I spot feed once or twice per week with a frozen mixture.

i have mine in a super low flow area and same place as my metero shower so not alot of light and it is more puffy then ive seen them in tanks

Thanks everyone. I think I have it positioned properly but wanted to make sure. I have some crushed squid that I fed it last night and it ate like crazy. I appreciate the feedback!

seems like a lot of different places work for the trachy. I did read somewhere that they like actinic lighting. I had my at the top of my tank with MH and it loved it but then shrunk up so I moved it to the bottom and it got super puffy again.
