I've read through the other posts, but I am wanting to know if I am justcputting off the inevitable. I have give Pinky (pictured with and without flash) an iodine dip and continue with spot feeding reef chilievery few days.

It’s because it’s a colony of organisms. The exposed skeleton doesn’t really affect the rest of the colony directly, but it does point to a potential water quality issue, and if not, and it was just damaged somehow, it does invite the potential for bacterial infections and algae growth.

Hard to say from the images.
Any suggestions for better images? Do I need better angles or a better camera? BTW I am pretty sure my magnetic glass cleaner bounced off of it, but it was at least a week before the receding tissue showed.

It is probably damage related. I have given it one iodine bath about 2 weeks ago.
