Hi, well there is significant more flesh loss. I’ll try and get an updated pic tomorrow at some point. Wish I could pinpoint what started all this, however, where it is now should give it its best chance, but it’s probably slim it’ll pull through. One day at a time.

Is there a good test for iron? I haven't found one at the levels we keep in the reef tank. Maybe check all your magnets with zinc and iron elevated. Could be the chaeto grow with the iron but I think that would take some heavy dosing? Makes me wonder about some metal somewhere with the zinc too.

.15ppm phosphate isn't terrible. What are your nitrates?
Good question. I have a Salifert nitrate test kit, I’ll use it tomorrow out of curiosity. In the past, I could never get any color contrast, so I figured the kit was useless, or I just had a magical refugium sucking up the nutrients. But honestly last time I checked nitrate, I had half as many fish, and dosed aminos every other night. Now I got so much high octane nitrate causing products for corals and live stock, it’s gotta be greater than 20ppm.

Shirak, I guess I’ll have a busy reef day tomorrow. Red Sea does have an iron, iodine and I believe potassium tritation test kit. I got one buried in a box somewhere, but were you implying that there is not any known generic kits on the market for hobbyists to measure high iron levels?

So i got majorly side tracked today and just got back from Fred Meyer to prep a dinner for mom tomorrow. The tank is well, things seem great, however I lost the Trachyphyllia. Never had one before, and kinda glad I didn’t go for one that is bucku bucks with all those amazing color blends. So I got some work and thinking to do about this tank. Here’s a picture that I’m proud of, second is the Trachyphyllia that rapidly digressed and is no more below my happy Chalk Bass. Happy Mother’s Day to all you reefing moms! My mom likes my addiction to this hobby over the costly poker tournaments I sometimes sneak away to. Cheers!

Im sorry for the loss. The damage was extreme. But, there is still a big chance someone was dining on it.

Any other puffy lps in the reef?

Naw, nothing I been able to see. There’s an acanthophyllia, 2 cynarina, 2 symphallia, ouphyllia, indophyllia , chalices are good, my scroll seems happy, but the Euphyllia next to it is getting uber close. Favias and Scolys are doing well also. It’s a bummer, definitely enjoyed it while it looked great, it was about 3 inches back from the glass to give my pear snails some room to get by. Like I mentioned earlier, got some work ahead of me, pondering, more testing and I’m sure I’ll being hitting y’all up when my sleuth work is mystified or not clear.

Always been a believer in if something goes bad, sometimes in a sense it is ok or part of the grander scheme of things. So it’s unfortunate I lost the Trachyphyllia, I had some learning to do about it, but was very drawn to it beauty. Now being skeletal remains, I found a use for it, I placed it in an area to shield a flame scallop I got yesterday to block my copperband from assaulting it. Hopeful scallop doesn’t make a run for unprotected territory. Also have a descent size collection of corals, so amidst all the other beautiful live ones, having a white skeleton is a good reminder to appreciate what I have, stay on my game, and not get too lazy, because everything I’ve added is depending on my drive for a great tank.
