I had this huge peppermint shrimp (almost 2 inches) since the second week after cycling my tank. It is now week 4 and my tank is doing very well. So well that I decided to buy an anemone (BTA) and see how it does and it was fine when I put it in, until this shrimp decides to try tearing it. I understood this was a risk since they eliminate aiptasia but I was still mad. However, he did not kill the anemone or severely hurt it. The next day my mom bought a Brain coral to place in my tank, without my knowledge. But despite my tank being new and may not support it, I put it in. That shrimp attacked that coral for hours eventually tearing holes in the frag and ripping it up. In a desperate attempt to save the coral I tried to catch the shrimp. After nearly an hour and a half of effort I couldn't catch him. Until I lured him into the net with food. I wasn't going to keep him in my tank to cause more harm to the anemone or the coral and didn't want to risk future corals. So I did the hardest thing a reefer must do, I had to kill the shrimp. Lerned my lesson about peppermint lol

Wow could have put him in the sump, gave him to a friend, brought him back to the lfs.

I had a pep shrimp go rouge n started popping heads on a frog spawn so I started feeding him pellets n he never touched a Coral again.

I couldn't place him in my sump because I have literally no room because I have a biocube and my lfs is an hour away.

Uh...you killed the shrimp? Your LFS would have taken him off your hands. Even PetCo would have.

Petco will not take any animals. Their rules.

OP, next time don't tell people you killed the animal. People don't take it well. Also, are you absolutely sure it was a peppermint shrimp and not a camel shrimp?

I am 100% sure he was a peppermint shrimp and not a camel and I did feed him 2 pellets daily.
