Tricks for getting sleeper gobies to eat?

Any tips for getting a yellowheaded sleeper goby to eat frozen foods? He sifting the sand like crazy, but I have yet to see him take food I've added to the tank.

What did he eat at the store? Start with that, then start mixing what you want him to eat with what he is used eating. Slowly phase out the Fish store food.

I've tried plankton, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and marine cuisine with no luck. He's not eating the frozen foods even though that's what he ate at the LFS. However, he's sifting the heck out of the sand...so much, in fact, that he's decreased the water clarity with all of the fines he's stirred up :)

He doesn't look to be starving and is actively working the sand, so hopefully that's a good sign.

Try soaking small pieces of krill in a small cup with your tank water. Then once it's thawed, use a long tong to partially bury the piece of krill in the sand near the goby.. I have two and they will now come to the tongs to get the krill. I also use freeze dried krill, also soaking it in tank water.

Awesome idea! I'll try it tomorrow to see if he responds :)

Has not worked at all. :/ He just ignores it. He still looks good, but I would feel better if I actually saw him eat something.

Maybe you need to call to the fish store or try to call to few stores maybe they have some ideas?!

I did call the fish store. They fed him the same thing I'm trying to feed him.

I tried garlic in the brine and mysis shrimp. No joy. He wouldn't even acknowledge the food in the water column. I've been trying the garlic routine since Monday.

However, tonight I tried some Prime Reef Flakes and lo and behold...he ate! I thought I saw him snap up one then spit it out, but then I continued to watch and he ate several. YAAAAYYYY! :)

At least I know he's getting some food along what whatever he's able to get out of the sand. He doesn't look like he's lost weight, so I guess my wife was right again...she said he'd eat when he got hungry :))

Even the lawnmower blenny chased down a couple of flakes. Does anyone supplement their lawnmower blenny's diet?
