Trident service kit

Has anyone done the DIY service kit or send in option, for their trident and if so did you notice any difference in readings? If it working would you send it in for preventative maintenance anyways? I bought mine used, obviously don’t know how it was operated before and if it was taken care, it has been setup for probably 8 months and other than an initial no water sample haven’t had any issues with it. I believe it reads accurate, it generally is within .3 or so of my Hanna kh.

I probably wouldn't opt to send my Trident in, no. The only preventative maintenance that I've done is to clean the testing cuvette with a q-tip and RO.

I had to send my trident in a while ago, when I got it back I noticed a long scratch on the cover of the trident. When I reached out to them, they said it could've been damaged from the shipping company. ( yeah ok )

Anyways, if I had to send it back for preventive maintenance .. I would do it again.
I have to much money invested in my tank.

That’s the main thing I would think would be beneficial is the Cuvette but like you did, could just clean it instead of replacing.

So you did the send yours in and get yours back, not the swap? Did you just send it as preventative or were you noticing an issue?

Before I sent it in I recorded the serial number, I did get my original back. Not sure if the cover was the correct one or mixed up with someone else.
Sent it in for both PM ( preventative maintenance ) and no water issue, bad Ca reading, etc.
Ever since I got it back, haven't experience any more issues.

I did the DIY self service. Not too difficult if one is somewhat mechanically inclined. They have a really good video (Paul did it I think) and I suggest you watch it before starting or even ordering. This will give you an idea of your comfort level. It really isn't hard nor time consuming.

I watched the video, was ok with it, placed the order for the self service kit. It arrived within 2 days. I watched the video again before starting then had it running while I followed along. I would watch for a few, pause, then do the work, then start, etc. Maybe took me 45 minutes if that.

Nothing stands out to me as being difficult in the overall process. It comes apart pretty well. Goes back together just as easy. Honestly no stress at all. Also note please do this just before all of your reagents are out what is in the tray. It will be best if you have a 2 month kit ready to go and a calibration reference. After it is done and running I calibrated about 48 hours after it was running.

Edit: apologies, I left off time of ownership / running of trident. I purchased it around February or March of 2020 which puts me at 2 years if not a few months over. I may have bought it in January but I can't find my exact notes. I'm sorry. Also not sure if it really needed it but wanted to do it at least once as my ALK started to trend down even after calibration. Turns out my dosing lines where the problem :) Anyway hope this helps. Sorry again for leaving out this detail.

Let me know if you have any questions but I honestly believe you won't have any. Main thing I found was to just go slow and think about the step then knock it out. They have you set it up after you completed without the cover to check for leaks. This probably the vital part. Have a small flashlight so you can look. I also found placing it on a paper towel will also help spot leaks (I don't have the greatest eye sight :) ).

Please provide link on where to purchase this DIY Kit. My test keeps failing and results incorrectly low due to system being clogged up I think. Might be good to start with fresh lines as opposed to vinegar flushing.
