A couple of rather poor pictures but they do show what my concerns are. Under his mouth, there seems to be an injury. Now most injuries for the other fish I have (tangs etc), disappear after 2-3 days, but he has had it now longer without any significant change towards improvement. Could this be something different than an injury?

Looks like a cut, maybe the scar leftover from one. My BJTs are always cramming themselves into the rocks and come out with scrapes and cuts. As long as it doesn’t get worse I wouldn’t worry about it.

I don't have a picture of it but my bluethroat cut himself in exactly the same place. There was a large piece "missing" and for a long time it looked like it wasn't going to heal. Then in the space of 2 weeks it healed completely. He did it jumping over the weir into the overflow. An incredibly skittish fish particularly when anything passes between the tank and the window opposite. I took to hand feeding him three times a day to try and calm him down amd it worked to a large degree. A lovely fish and am glad I made the effort.

I would just observe for now. Reasons to get concerned would be if it gets bigger or turns red/looks infected. At that point, think about meds in a QT tank. I wouldn't catch the fish at this point, as the risk/reward wouldn't favor that.
