Can I measure my salinity by just putting the hydrometer in the tank itself or do I have to fill something up with my tank water and put it in that?

Could I use the container it comes in or would that not work?

To use it in the tank, you'd have to turn off all pumps, including the return.

A cheap Amazon graduated cylinder works well
