Troubleshooting tunze auto pump

I bought a used tunze auto over a year ago but never got the chance to set it up. Finally getting around to it and the controller part seems to sense levels correctly but the pump isn't running. I'm pretty unfamiliar with the connectors. Here is what the wires look like? I'm not sure why they are black in the middle am I just out of luck here?

Ok. I tried ordering a new pump so we will see if that's the issue. I just am not sure how to tell where the failure is.

A new pump solved the problem. Now I need to figure out how to keep the pump upright in the ato container!
