So you are happy with the price and wild collected but knowing before hand that there are captive bred that are cheaper at 165. Color me confused.

I never said that and passed onto readers as there are still many paying $500 for a tang. I have 6 true Hawaiian at 6 5" - Why would I get excited?

I was just unsure (as I have for a while) what the difference is between a Zebrasoma flavescens from Hawaii and elsewhere. Glad to hear they're either finding a way to export again or meeting demand somehow!

Just last week , I praised Biota for their work and how the tangs do not differ as they mature. Its not for comparison but many have wondered when hawaii yellows will return or if ever. This was posted to show Hawaii yellows are again out there.

Excuse my naiveté, but other than where they come from, what's the difference between true Hawaiian yellows and other yellows and why do people want them so badly?

Are there any discernable size, color, or shape differences? Are they more/less aggressive, better/worse eaters, more/less hardy?

There is a Hawaii ban and many are upset and concerned about the return of many species. Biota filled the gap with captive species and there is very little difference between theirs and Hawaiian but after the absence of Hawaiian, many are excited to see their return. About 2 years ago, the price of Hawaiian version rose to as much as $700-$800 and then there were none to be found in pets stores. Private party prices for a Hawaiian today are still at least 400 for one.
Not too long ago there was a thread about Hawaii fish and many wondered if we would ever see a yellow tank again.
The post you see merely is stating someone Has Hawaii yellows and could this be a potential return of Hawaii yellow.

Hey Y'all I hope to clarify this. These are our Yellow Tang we sold them to this company earlier this week. They are captive-bred Biota Yellow tang.
But I won't complain that y'all are saying how great they look and happy they're available. We breed them and hope to have them available as much as possible, both directly through our company or your local fish store.

Oh Boy and the heading posted is their's stating Hawaiian - Thanks for clarification.
I thought it was odd that they had Hawaiian yellow as I was just there 3 weeks ago and the locals stated it will be a Long time if ever.
