Hi
I got the CBB last Wed. It's now Sunday. He picks at rocks. He's picked at my maxima -- I moved it to higher on rocks, now he wont touch it. Since he picked at the clam I figured he's ready for a live human food clam. I put one in tank with some holes in it for him to poke into. Big holes. He doesnt even notice the clam. I put in live black worms -- on the rocks, even in the clam holes. Nothing.

Should I just wait a few more days? What should I do?

TY!

drop a frozen clam into the tank, as the clam thaw out, it start to crack open and the CBB get first crack at it because of his beak. best ones are:

Countnecks
Littlenecks
Topnecks
Cherrystones
Chowder Clams or just Quahog

I use this:

Well your maxima is gonna be a goner no matter. It’s gonna eat that one first before it touches any store bought clams.

He doesnt see a live clam, so I don't think he'll see a frozen one. The one in the pic are on half shells btw, not closed up clams.
I put the maxima up higher on rocks, so far no bother to it up there. We'll see.
What should I do to get him to eat? I heard of a U-tube just mentioned in another thread, but I cant find anything on that and feeding CBB.
I don't know why the CBB cant at least smell the live clam, any help on above appreciated.

After about 2 days he started eating the clam. I put some really big breaks in the shell with the nail and hammer. He wasnt goign crazy about the clam, but was defiinitely eating it. I say was bcause he died yesterday :-( . Looking back he had an injury that appeared as only a discoloration on his side when I first got him. Few days later I noticed it was actually a patch of missing scales.. got infected, quickly died right after he started eating the clams. I'm going to be even more careful at selecting a CBB in particular in future.
