Trying to find anything about this skimmer

So I'm setting up a tank. It's currently filling.

It came with this old skimmer from reef skimmer from reef octopus.

I dont know anything about it and just looking for some guidance on it.

I'll only be using it temporarily while I save up for a new one.

I'm sure it's nothing fantastic but it's what I have to use currently.

Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like an older Reef Octo DNW recirculating skimmer. If it’s still functioning it will skim well enough for a new system.

Was there anything specific you needed to know?

Never used one of these but yea, looks like a recirculating skimmer. So water pumps into that threaded T at the top of the body from an external pump. The attached pump recirculates the water in the body while mixing with air from the white hose. That’s where the microbubbles will come from. The pipe on the left is where the water exits. The upright part looks like a make shift gate valve. As you spin the tube it’ll make the output hole smaller, making the water level rise.

Translating this skimmer to instructions of most the other skimmers you see now, use the gate valve on the exit and speed of water entering the unit to control water height. Use the speed of the recirculating pump or a valve on the airline to control the amount of bubbles that are created.

The goal being a stable head of foam that sits right at the top of the collection cup. Tuned to skim wetter or drier based on your goals.
