my tanks been cycling for 2 weeks today is the first day i plugged the skimmer in figured i would dial it in and have it ready because my cycle is coming to an end i haven't set up a skimmer in 4-5 years do i have it set at the correct level? it seems to be producing a lot of skim for only being setup for an hour

Good choice in skimmer.
Let it rip way low, so you collect no skimmate
Or take cup off, or put hose onto cup that drains it back into sump, so you collect no skimmate
Once cycle is complete dial it in
