I have 70 gallon half cylinder reef, mostly softies. I've struggled with flow since I set this tank up. It doesn't matter what speed or setting I use, the flow hits the front glass and seems to pick up speed and blast anything along the front of the tank. I'm running two MP10's on the back wall one on each side of the overflow. A fellow reefer on here brought the 6040 powerhead to my attention. Do you think two 6040's would work good for this tank setup? Would you recommend running the 6040 without the deflector to direct all the water flow straight up? Or, would it be better to use the deflector causing some flow to go straight up, but be able to direct some flow into the center of the tank?

Thank you

My apologies, I try to check in every other day as for some reason I am not getting notices of new posts. I think the 6040's could work well but I would probably turn them sideways and set up a rotating current.

OK, I figured out how to "watch" a forum so from now on I should get a notice.

Thanks! Are you suggesting setting them sideways in the back corners and shooting the flow along the front glass?

Yes, maybe one blowing across the back flat pane and the other around the front or both on the front, one on either end. I am assuming a 36" length?

If you can wait, the 6150 might be the better choice, while it is substantially stronger and larger, one would do the job and it is highly variable in speed, I have some worry 2 6040's will be the bare minimum of flow needs.
