Tunze 6075 Reviews?

As I mentioned on a previous post, I am looking for a wide-angle wave maker, something to supplement my two MP40s that will provide a wide flow pattern, something around 50 or 60 degrees would be amazing.

Has anyone used the new Tunze 6075? BRS has an old video discussing how wide the flow angle on the 6095 is, but this new pump looks even wider (based on its physical design).

Can anyone speak to this?

Hey, I’ve just received the pump and it’s already working in the tank (WB Reef 100.3, 90x60x60cm), so these are just first impressions.
The flow is wide and gentle, but seems that pushes more towards the center. It is very silent. I have installed it on the back wall aiming in diagonal. Right now it’s the only powerhead running, excluding the return pump.
When running at 100% can “reach” the other side of the tank, but only with a flebile flow which is not enough to stir anything. I would need 2 in my tank to make a decent amount of flow.

So far so good, but was hoping it to be slightly more powerful. If I knew it, I would have gone for the 6105 ECO instead, at about 12.000 L/h.

Just a correction to my post above. The flow is not as wide as I thought and is more similar to my MP10’s. What changes is that the size of the propeller is larger than that of the MP10 and therefore the movement of water is larger, but that does not mean the the flow has a wide angle.

I believe we will see a dedicated video to the 6075 but I’m not positive. I saw it in action in a sneak peek video and it looked super wide and super gentle. I would bet it doesn’t push much past 24-30”

Tunze guy here. The controller on the old pumps was the weak link, imo.
They now look like its going to be a nice new feature. Let us know how they perform.
I am looking forward to their new return pumps. They are true Tunze and not a rebrand like their old returns that I run.

I have the 75 and 95 here with the new Hub controller that I’m going to test in my new tank. 4 foot 100g tank.

I ran the 95s on my old 120 for a couple years and loved them. Just couldn’t get any of the Tunze pumps to work for my 6 foot peninsula but I much prefer them over any other company.

Are the new return pumps out? I don’t think I’ve seen them

That's good to know. I have seen a BRS video that says the 6095 is the widest...but this was before the updated 6075, and the looks of the new model just scream "wide." Interesting to hear that it is not.

Please, please, please, report back! The 75s look sooooo wide, but I hear the 95s might be wider. I look forward to your test.

I have one running behind the rock work on my 5ft 120 since they came out. Wide but strong, diffuse flow. If you have less than 1/2” glass you need to shim the magnet or the pump makes vibration as it the magnet actually pulls on the impeller.

If you have algae issues I recommend buying a second front guard to swap out and clean. It’s 3d printed and not the smooth plastic of their pump bodies and past grilles.

Big selling points are the flow rate yet small medical grade power supply and the cables that don’t get rock hard in saltwater like every other pump on the market.

The software has a learning curve but then it’s set it and forget it.

Holy cow! When did Tunze pumps start to vibrate so much???? Both the 75 and 95 I have are so loud it’s ridiculous. I’ve never had a Tunze be this loud

I have no scientific way to test them so take this with a grain of salt…lol I chuckle because I used salt to watch the flow patterns

I wouldn’t say the 6075 is wider than the 6095 but it is softer….I don’t know how to describe it really but it is more of a diffused flow than the 6095 but not by much. It can move water 4 feet but there isn’t any mmmph at 4 feet. As I suspected, it’s great in the 24-30” range. Even a foot out from it isn’t a direct jet stream of water. It’s diffused and soft.

On paper the 6095 reaches 2550gph and uses 21 watts. The 6075 maxes out at 2000gph but only uses 8 watts. For someone with super expensive electricity, that could add up. If I already had a 6095 I wouldn’t switch it for the 6075

If you remove the pump from the holder, it’s silent but vibrates a good deal. So when it’s put in the holder it vibrates horribly on the dampeners and then transfers that vibration into the glass.

It’s unacceptable and now I have to figure out something else for this tank. I can’t believe Tunze would release this. No way they didn’t hear it in testing.

I even took the exterior magnet off and it still happens. Really wish I had my old 6095s back. They were dead silent

The HUB controller is an absolute game changer for Tunze pumps. The patterns you can create with 2 pumps is amazing and super easy. The UI looks quite dated but works very well especially once you figure it out. Felix from Tunze has a video showing most of the features. I recommend watching it.

I can now say the 6075 is a wider and softer flow than the 6095. While the 6075 can push water 4 feet, it loses a lot of steam after about 3 feet as the water is so broad and wide with no velocity at that point. In an LPS tank, this is perfect. The 6095 can definitely move the water 4 feet with some gusto.

Appreciate you posting your experience with these. I'm on a mission to perfect my flow and the 6075 is top of the hit list. Do you have the 6075 and 95 facing each other in your 4ft with LPS? If so, approximately what percentage are they running at?

I am also looking for something to put in the corner of my 180g - 6x2x2 - and push very gentle flow where the gyres don't reach

Would this work - or is it going to be too powerful even turned way down?

I use 6255 for my 6 ft x 30 inch wide peninsular. This have the punch to push water all the way across 6 ft and bounce back.
