Are these powerheads the exact same except for the magnets? You can buy external magnets for Tunze, so just curious if they are the same pump.

That's what I thought. As long as you weren't getting the cloud edition, it is the same. All literature I've seen say they are the same gph, wattage, etc....

What confused me was this post.

The Stream 3 versions will likely come in January, unfortunately this is a different controller, different motor and has to be tested separately as a separate platform.

Everything I've seen on the webpage for sellers (premium aquatics, BRS, etc.) seem to say it has all the same technical specs other than magnet.

I guess maybe the question should be, if I can get the Stream 3 used, can I just slap an extra magnet on the outside to make it work on an innovative marine 200g that has 19mm glass instead of the 15mm that the Stream 3 is rated for?

I can confirm that these are the same pump besides the magnets. These are great pumps. I have one at home that is crazy silent and has been running for years. The only down side is the strange form factor.

I do not own the pumps in question but wanted to suggest reaching out to Tunze. Just visit their portal and ask the question. You will get an answer usually within 24 hours if it isn't on a weekend.

I had a couple of questions on the 6105 and had a great experience with them. Only mentioning it if you didn't get the answer yet.

You can add a stronger magnet to the outside and get them to stick on thicker glass. If you buy the tunze magnets, it is cheaper to buy the stream 3 plus than to buy the regular and add the magnet, so it is best to get the + if you know you have thick glass.

True, but you have the pair on sale right now and I have some stronger magnets. I'm just trying to figure out if a magnet bar will interfere with the operation of the mag lev instead of just the round circle magnets.

Man, I had been watching all the sites since January and they never had any stock. Makes sense now. I just pulled the trigger on the regular stream 3 and will try attaching some extra magnets I have for 3/4" glass.
