I have a tuxedo urchin that hasn't moved in about 2 days. all his tentacles are out but he's stuck to the glass pretty good. How do I know if he's dead?

How much coraline and green algae do you have?
A decent amount of coraline, but much of it gets covered by cyanobacteria between water change (when I suck it off the rock). I have GHA, but it seems to keep to two specific rocks. Diatoms are visible on the glass about a week after scraping.

Why do you ask?

Because exactly as you said they need both, has it been on a binge eat and is just resting?

... wishes he hadn't started drinking 6 hours ago, IME they do eat cyano, I always have cyano to some degree, pop some asterinas on the cyano and see what happens?! ;)
You / we need to find the root cause of you cyano btw.

I have a pincushion and tuxedo urchin that I've had for a few years. Occasionally one or the other will park for a couple of days. Just long enough to get me good and worried. They're always back up and running before long. No idea why.
