pH 8.5 6-7 dkh

I"m using a premixed from TBAquatics. It's supposedly recipe 1
I may have to switch to recipe 2 since pH has climbed with this formula. I just don't understand why the carbonates won't dissolve.

From what I here

Another thing to consider is that pH will increase with no increase in KH when macro algae remove carbon dioxide from the system.

I think.

All I know is my pH was very low like 7.6 or lower (api high range test kit) untill I added macro algaes. Then a day later is was over 8 and has remained above 8.4 for years since.

Hi Mr Holmes I have followed you since 2010. Newly I have calculated the necessity of cacl2 and Na2CO3 for my new tank. I wrote the following formula CaCl2(aq) +Na2CO3 (aq) <---> CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq) So as you see, for each mol of cacl2 we need only one mol Na2CO3. On the other hand for 147 gr...

Hi Mr Holmes
I have followed you since 2010.
Newly I have calculated the necessity of cacl2 and Na2CO3 for my new tank. I wrote the following formula
CaCl2(aq) +Na2CO3 (aq) <---> CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq)
So as you see, for each mol of cacl2 we need only one mol Na2CO3. On the other hand for 147 gr cacl2 we need only 66 gr Na2CO3. Is it right? Or I have missed something.

CaCl2 is dihydrate.
(CaCl2-2H2O) with mol weight 147 gr.
(Na2Co3) with mol weight 66 gr.
