Been a bit discouraged due to some paling and bleaching of my corals so I started dosing potassium nitrate lasts night as my one fish and ghost feeding really hasn't been enough and I've never had measurable nitrate.
Phosphate is undetectable but I'm sure that's due to the algae.
Already got no3 at 3 ppm last night well see were it's at tonight.

No3 at 5 ppm and no I'll effects,
I really want to add some new coral but I want the ones I already have to be thriving.
I feel I'm on the right track though. Here is were I am color wise and I'll update on progession. Growth has been fine and euphylias have been splitting heads my on acro is doing wonderful other than color. It was 1 " in june.

The welso is the same one in my avatar. Ever since it spent 6 months in Rubbermaid trough before home was ready it has been transparent.
Fingers crossed as my nitrates are all that's been lacking.
Ph 8-8.2
Dkh 8.5-9.1
Calc 480
Nitrate always 0 until dosing kno3 now raising to 4 or 5 each night
Phosphate is 0 salifert but I have some algae so who knows.

Still having its ups and downs. Somehow I got a couple aiptiasia that became a couple hundred lol. I got five peppermint shrimp today and they haven't seemed to touch them. Oddly enough though 2 of them are tearing up the diatoms I have on my back glass.

Thanks and it's been a slow thread but I've found patience over the 7 years in reef keeping. My tanks should be more stable soon as I've only had a Mandarin for about six months or so.

All is well with the fish.
I've finally nailed down my issues with coral color and rtn and the cause was severe ALK swings from my own stupidity. When I switched to aquaforest salt I never considered the lower ALK levels they run and was not making adjustments. Also I believe that the man made rock that was 25 lbs was leaching and raising my tank ALK. But now I'm getting colors back quickly and seeing growth again.
