A completely irrelevant pic of my new build. The cube was only to tide me over till this 20gal is up and running.
Please excuse the ugly PVC overflow :p

Thanks Ljaus :)

I'm away from home for a week over Christmas. It's the first time I've ever left the tank for longer than a day since it's been set up.
Only being a couple of months old I hope it's ok. Fingers crossed!!

During my 2 weeks away from home over Christmas, I lost a few acans during what I'll now call a lights off period....my light timer didn't turn the lights back on sometime during my time away. But lights off period sounds much better haha.

I've noticed quite a bit of growth in my helio and some new acan babies!

So I've found the dream fish for this tank at a great price. It's more expensive than any fish I've ever bought, but I need it!!!!
I just need to decide if I'm prepared to live on toast for a week to purchase it.
Tune in next week for the possible new addition!!

Oh yeah, they normally have a crazy price, hence why I almost got it ;)

Haha yea I snatched him up pretty quickly at that price [emoji23]

Looking good, where's that new fish?? ;)Do you still have the Valentinii?

Thanks! It'll be here next week hopefully. I put my order in, just waiting on an invoice so I can pay.
Nah I don't have the valentini anymore. I lost him a few years ago and had a bit of a hiatus afterwards. I'll be getting another when my new tank is running. It's worth a bit of coral nipping to have such an awesome fish around! I won't have another big tank without one :)

Have you tried a valentini mimic filefish? They are awesome! And look just like the Valentini puffer :3

No I haven't kept them before. I was considering adding Pygmy filefish to my display refugium, but may look into the valentini mimic or a mix of both if they play nice. However for the reef, nothing beats the real thing, even if sometimes they do nip the coral :)

I think different filefish, even same specie in most cases tend to play pretty nice :)

Awesome :) I've never really looked into filefish before. They'd make an interesting addition! You don't see them around too much.
I'll have to do some read ear buds.

Not sure how that autocorrected to what it did. Not even going to edit it, it's too good haha

Ahahahahahahahahahaha! As far as filefish go, I got my first one a few months ago, and am in love. I got him to teach my scorp to eat chunks of meat and then big chunky pellets. All in all they are very food orientated and will eat until they can move no more, but are also quite peaceful to fish, and not terribly likely to try to nip at coral :)

Awesome! I'll definitely look into them. I don't think I'll be able to pass up a true valentini though [emoji23]

Got some new corals lately. Haven't updated this thread much, so here's some pics!
I'm not normally much of a fan of corals in the sand, but this is only a temporary tank till my 20 is up and running, so I'll allow myself to do it for now.
