I have the Tyree Ultimate now. If you had to do it over again, would you get both knowing that space is a premium? ...or is one or the other just fine?

Thank you both.

I would. But I had suspected they were the same and I decided to get both and choose one to keep later, whichever grew out better. My thinking was that they could be different genotypes of the same coral and one might adapt better to my tank.

We are talking about the Tyree ultimate Blue stag, right? I have a colony of it and it doesn’t look remotely like the pictures I have seen of the BC battlestag.

Maybe some picture comparisons could help.

I think they might be different. At least my ultimate stag has bright green rings around corallites, like the battlestag.

Yeah must be different. This ones been around since at least 2008-09 and I have seen it grown out in many different tanks, never saw colored rings on it. This is interesting.

I got my tyree ultimate stag from fraghouse. Brandon has a pretty representative picture of it on his website if you want to check it out. Jason Fox also sells it.

I have a nice frag of battle stag and the ultimate. They are 100% not the same in my opinion.

ohh yes go to frag house and search Tyree. They have Jason Fox Tyree Ultimate Stag &

Tyree Blue Tip Stag.

Mine is clearly the Tyree Blue tip Stag. It has def been called for a long time around me the "Tyree Ultimate Blue Stag"

Interesting. Now that I see that on frag house corals my ultimate does look like a blue tip stag. I sourced my frag from Jason fox. Here’s the colony picture from Jason’s website

Well if you look back post from 2008-2010 the Tyree blue tip stag was def called the Tyree ultimate blue stag. I'm quite sure the Tyree Ultimate stag referred to in this thread is not what I know as the Tyree Ultimate blue stag.

Ok that sure looks like the battlestag to me. Also looks similar to a piece I have the TSA Exquisita Stag.

The original Tyree ultimate stag is actually on the reeffarmers site and originated from @gcarroll
Yes but Tyree gets all the credit simply because I gave him a couple frags. I named it and even the pics were mine. I'm actually glad to find there are still a few of you out there that actually know the origin.
