Hey Reefers just wanted a place to document my latest build thread!! I have been in the hobby for around 15 years now! Last tank a Red Sea reefer 350 g1 I had running almost 10 years learned a lot and had a beautiful sps for several years until I had my house painted while on vacation and it crashed my tank after years finally got the tank back to a point it was growing well and noticed a splitting seam!

With the latest eshopps 4th of July sale I decided to it was time for an upgrade pulled the trigger on the @ESHOPPS.INC M130

From @premiumaquatics!



Current equipment



-2 Radion g4 pro xr30 with a g5 blue xr15 in the middle running a modified ab+ schedule xr30’s at 60% and blue at 75% on a rms hanging mount

-Flow: AI Nero 5 and ecotech mp40 jeabo 10000 return pump

-skimmer Deltec 600i skimmer

-control Neptune apex

-tune osmolator



I ordered the tank on July 4th and it arrived on the 22nd. It’s a beast! I’m impressed with the quality, but there’s one thing that’s not: they shipped the wrong sump with the tank. All their online images show the sump as a 4-chamber sump with a refugium chamber, so I purchased a Kessil H80 with plans to have a refugium. My tank came with a 3-chamber sump and no refugium. I’m a little bummed about that.

I emailed @ESHOPPS.INC about the mix-up on the 23rd herd back from them today they are planning to send the newer sump asap hopefully they do!

I hate wires so I took some inspiration from @TankAndTurbines on the cabinet except instead of a sliding I did a mirror style hanging mount

The biggest headache was I didn’t have the right tools for the cut outs and it’s rather difficult to cut a oval with a jigsaw.. at least at my skill level

After a headache of a tank transfer i learned mainly what not to do!!
1 I should never have kept my sand bed i probably wouldn’t have if I had not recently received a purchase from reef cleaners with a whole bunch of vibex nisarious snails and plitho crabs and tiger conchs.. but man I didn’t know their was so much crud in the sand bed
- also I should have paid more attention to how fast temps can drop even with heater and pumps I lost probably half of my frags so far from the stress

I am pleased with the result so far! Still have to run some cords but I have the tank up

Getting my Par dialed in on the Mobius app and have to say I’m pretty happy with the results

started back dosing decided on this tank to swap to tropic marine All-For-Reef! I have used Esv bionic for years and don’t have any complaints but would like to get more trace elements! And the afr seems easier and after a cost analysis price is almost the same.

I will probably dose until my requirement hits around 100ml/dah and add in avast kalkwasser for any alk requirement over that! According to my calculations my max dose for afr is around 150ml/day

But my thought is I have A Dos currently afr will require one head and then I can run the avast kalkwasser with the other head if it’s required

Also ordered a Top Lids luxury lid! And planning on ordering some Bimaculatus anthias before to long!

Oh picked up a few frags from a buddy this past weekend and pretty excited to watch them grow! Already a lot bigger than most of the frags you get anywhere else!

Got this battle corals aquatic man table colony was real pale in his system(low Par I believe) but it has really started to color up even the last 3 days

Also got this cornbread OMG and Miyagi tort both look good

Tank is doing great got an awesome BattleBox from @Battlecorals and probably my 4th battle box since starting the hobby! My first being back in 2018 and can’t lie Adam has some of the healthiest largest frags you in the hobby imo

Also Just got in my @Top_Lids custom lid and have to say I’m very impressed with the finishing and fit with this lid!

Would highly reccomend I have 4 bimac and 8line flasher wrasse on order so got here just in time and a good bit sooner than u thought! Took about 3 weeks from the time I placed the order

Side note after some research and talking with ai I did go up on my light output on my lights a little bit to compensate for the loss of par.. 2 xr30’s went from 60% to 64% and xr15 went from 90% to 96% hoping that compensates for the loss of par without overdoing it

Also got in my updated Eshopps M130 sump big shout out to @ESHOPPS.INC for sending it out!! Love the setup and design of this sump!! Only thing that really bothered me on this whole m130 setup is how the overflow and pipe layout are designed..

So my largest issue is the fact that each drain in the overflow is male threaded with a gasket on the inside and of course a gasket on the outside.. the drain pipes under the stand are female threaded so your required to screw the drain pipes from the bottom which is almost impossible because the top pipe constantly spins.. all had a bur on the threads of the male end so it made tightening them down impossible alone and almost impossible without someone with a strong grip reaching into the overflow and way down for the main siphon and trying to grip the tube to keep it from spinning while trying to screw on the pipes from below.. absolutely insane finally got it tight enough after 5 busted knuckles that it wouldn’t leave but if I ever have to make adjustments in the future I will be cutting the pipes out ha! Ha with that said

My other issue is the layout of the pipes the instructions as the come don’t make sense and after talking with Eshopps I swapped pipes 1/4 so that emergency drain was not draining into Refugium

After looking at this design I was not that happy with it either because the main siphon which I have in 2 and Refugium siphon in 4 are both the same height and only about 1.5” bellow emergency overflow.. this didn’t make sense and sounds like it would be loud and difficult to dial
In without gurgling especially considering from my research I wanted my main siphon running to reef mat to carry about 90% of the flow and refugium about 10% of the flow so in the end I left the original main siphon which was about 5” shorter than emergency overflow

And the refugium drain I cut about 2 inches above the main siphon and 2” below the emergency overflow! Now after getting everything dialed in it is completly quiet

So my lights are back at their full setting acclamation mode is off! Still a few acros paler than I would like so tested nitrates and phosphates! Nitrates was 0.00 on the Hanna nitrate checker and phosphates came in at .16ppm i contribute the higher phosphate to the Amount of reefroids I was dosing in my autofeeder

Saying that I started dosing neonitrate to bring that up and hopefully at least get them measurable

New anthias and wrasse coming out of QT @Dr. Reef and set to head to the tank on Wednesday! I guess it’s time to catch the Bully in the tank! One of my faves the 6 line flasher!! wish me luck!

The first time was bad the 2nd was even worse I tried everything even with two people I couldn’t get the main siphon tube in the overflow to stop spinning so I just left it as my main drain and put the emergency overflow in drain 1 and piped the main drain to my reefmat

Only reason I can think they would do it the way they did is because they didn’t want people cracking bulkheads trying to tighten traditional bulkheads!? I promise if I ever have to dissemble and move this system I will be cutting out the pipes and replumbing in the new location ha ha
