Hmm. I stir up my sand regularly to allow the settled detritus to enter the water column and subsequently be filtered out. I’m the days of deep sand beds there were anoxic areas where toxins could propagate and if stirred up would release them. With thinner sand beds that are agitated frequently, you don’t get those spots. No fish yet or can I go ahead and grab some fish this weekend. I was going to check to make sure my nitrites are 0 today and my nitrates are above 0. So I haven’t done a water change yet I’ve jus been topping off from evaporationnothing, as it gets worst add some snails. stick to your weekly water changes and husbandry and it will go away in time.
