WOW!!! I wish you could ship across the border.
You and me both....wish I could easily get some of the acropora you guys captive grow. I sell frags of this guy local for $20...and I mean large frags...that first picture was one of them. I've just had this coral for so long and its a beast.

Darryl, Your colony looks awesome!
Thanks. I scored that about 5 years ago as a frag from a local aquarist. He had a killer tank it it was my favorite at the time.

I think that Capturing The orange also has to do with your water chemistry. If you are running a high nutrient set up i.e. 12.5+ alk 465 ca 1380 mg and also having small traces of nitrates (10-20ppm), and phosphates (0.01) then the zooxanthellae is growing very rapidly and has a brown pigmentation that protects it from light which is great for growing out sps very fast versus a low nutrient system 8.5 alk 430 ca 1300 mg and 0 nitrates or phosphates which doesn't support the zooxanthellae enough for it to protect its self and in turn the coral starts Producing Colored Florescent Proteins(colors) to protect the zooxanthellae and is ideal for a mature grown out sps tank to bring out the best and most vibrant colors. Radium Bulbs don't hurt either LOL. Im not Marine Biologist but thats just my understanding and experience, especially with bright multicolored corals SPS.
