This is something I fully believe.Since meeting Vintage I’ve started target feeding. Haven’t had issues, but one thing kinda made sense, if it has a mouth it probably wants to eat even though it’s photosynthetic
Regardless if you believe in God, Evolution, or nothing at all…this is a living creature - a plant animal hybrid for lack of better term, and if it has receptors for a form of photosynthesis - it needs light. If it has a mouth and ability to digest and process food - it should eat.
If something has both, then it probably is meant to use both. And while they can survive on one or the other, that is a survival tactic and probably not meant for long term. You don’t get the same nutrients from light as you do from food, they are designed/built to utilize both.
Proper par range is important, and so is target feeding min of 2x weekly
Do you want coral to survive or thrive? There is a difference in those words
All lps recover faster and grow faster when target fed. This also helps prevent issues.
